Most South Australians have heard about truffles – the magnificent fungus – not the chocolate kind! And many are keen to try them. Adelaide Central Market is SA’s fine food and drink hub, so truffle grower and Truffle Melbourne Festival Director Nigel Wood approached the Market with the idea of featuring the best of SA’s produce, partnered with truffles – and Truffle Adelaide at the Market was born! Truffle Adelaide draws on the success of its Melbourne sister festival, already a feature on Melbourne’s culinary calendar, and the largest truffle festival weekend outside Europe. Truffle Adelaide at the Market is a first for Adelaide, and aims to become one of Adelaide’s premiere food & wine events. Truffles are growing in popularity in Australia – they’re a unique ingredient, and will bring out the best of well-matched food and drink produce found across the Market. Not hard to use, they amplify the best of local produce, and turn the everyday into extraordinary!
The Mushroom Man market stall will have fresh truffles, truffle oils, salts, balsamic, and even truffle eggs available to purchase. Plus tasty Truffle tastings every day, from Thursday to Saturday.
Create your ultimate truffle inspired recipe at home! With a glass of Bird in Hand Sparkling Pinot Noir in hand, collect your recipe, map and Market tote and be inspired on our inaugural Truffle Trail. The recipe and map will guide you around the Market where you will hunt down the best SA ingredients to take home to create your very own truffle inspired dish, Pappardelle Carbonara with Truffles and Leeks.
